Baaco was gunned down on Good Friday at his house in Barangay Barong Barong, Brooke's Point, Palawan, by an armed group.
According to Baaco's wife, Maria Victoria, two of the group members were women, and they were dressed in camouflage and carried high-caliber guns.
They said they were only after Baaco's guns, Maria Victoria said.
The group took two long firearms that belonged to Baaco, then escaped at the back of the house, the report said.
The 44-year-old Baaco had four gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
The Palawan disaster risk reduction management head—considered the right-hand man of Gov. Jose Alvarez—served the provincial government in several capacities, including heading its Rescue 165 program. —KG, GMA News
