FVR on Duterte's threat to eat terrorists: ‘Act like a president all the time’

Former President Fidel Ramos on Tuesday said President Rodrigo Duterte must “act like a President all the time,” as he criticized the chief executive’s speech at the recent opening of the 2017 Palarong Pambansa.

“Let me put it this way, he still has my support. But as far as he’s supporting me is concerned, that’s another thing…Yes, [I believe in his leadership] except that, there is an exception, you act like [a] President all the time,” Ramos said in a television interview.

Ramos cited Duterte’s speech over the weekend in Antique where he graced the opening of the Palarong Pambansa youth games.

“He said ‘I will kill of those Abu Sayyafs and any of you who are around here, I’ll eat you’,” Ramos said quoting Duterte.

“This must be avoided especially when you are talking to our young people,” the former President said. “If he’s talking to some others who are equally rowdy or call them mischievous as he is, then let him talk their language.”

On Sunday in Antique, Duterte said he wants the remaining Abu Sayyaf terrorist in Bohol dead.

He called terrorists "animals" and warned that he can be the same. He even said he can eat them.

“Iyong mga terrorism na they cut other people’s throat, slit it and just to decapitate, they are really animals. But if you want me to be an animal, eh sanay rin ako diyan. Pareho lang tayo,” Duterte said.

“I can dish out more than what you can 50 times over. Kainin pa kita sa harap ko, bigyan mo lang ako ng suka pati asin, I’ll eat you,” he added. —ALG, GMA News
