A moderately strong aftershock was felt again in Batangas on Saturday afternoon.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded a magnitude-4.3 tectonic earthquake at 12:32 p.m.

The quake's epicenter was traced five kilometers east of Tingloy Island.

It was felt at Intensity 4 in Batangas City and Intensity 3 in Lemery and Bauan towns.

PHIVOLCS was not expecting aftershocks and damage from the quake.

Based on PHIVOLCS' Earthquake Intensity Scale, Intensity 4 is described as "moderately strong."

It said that an Intensity 4 tremor is "Felt generally by people indoors and by some people outdoors. Light sleepers are awakened. Vibration is felt like a passing of heavy truck. Hanging objects swing considerably. Dinner, plates, glasses, windows and doors rattle. Floors and walls of wood framed buildings creak. Standing motor cars may rock slightly. Liquids in containers are slightly disturbed. Water in containers oscillate strongly. Rumbling sound may sometimes be heard."

The latest recorded tremor was an aftershock of the magnitude-5.5 quake that struck Tingloy last April 4.

PHIVOLCS had said Batangas had experienced an earthquake swarm. —ALG, GMA News
