A police officer was shot dead in Santa Cruz, Laguna shortly after attending a court hearing on a case he filed against three colleagues, a report on Balitanghali said Thursday.

PO3 Rustan Agustin was waiting for a bus after the court hearing when two suspects riding a motorcycle shot him, GMA News' Ian Cruz reported.

Agustin, who was shot in the head and all over his body, was declared dead on the spot.

"Nakalagay doon sa appearance niya nung dinouble check namin is regarding graft and corruption. Magfa-follow-up kami kung siya ba yung nag-file ng kaso o siya ba yung finile-an ng kaso," Sta. Cruz Police chief Supt. Erwin Obal said.

The suspects had also stolen Agustin's firearm and other personal belongings.

Agustin previously faced administrative charges which had led to his demotion.

Meanwhile, authorities are still identifying the suspects and their motives. — Marlly Rome Bondoc/MDM, GMA News
