Cotabato City imposes ‘no ID, no entry’ policy 

As martial law reigns over Mindanao, Cotabato City is enforcing a "no ID, no entry" policy to shut possible access into the city of members of terrorist groups that are making trouble in Marawi City in Lanao del Sur province.

GMA News' JP Soriano reported Friday on "Unang Balita" that police and military troops manning checkpoints on roads leading to Cotabato City search for motorists' IDs, including driver's licenses in the course of their operations.

Soriano said that one motorist yielded fake driver's licenses during an inspection at a checkpoint.

Also, he said that Cotabato City, just four hours drive from Marawi City,  has remained generally peaceful since martial law was imposed in Mindanao last Tuesday evening.

City authorities told Soriano that even before martial law was imposed they have already implemented curfew hours starting 10:30 p.m.

Citing incidents of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) discoveries, local authorities had decided to impose curfew in the city.

Task Force Cotabato, which is solely tasked to secure the city, has been formed, local authorities said.

While awaiting the directive and written guidelines for the implementation of martial law, troops from the 6th Infantry Battalion have continued their operations against lawless groups in Cotabato area. —LBG, GMA News
