CAFGU man killed by BIFF in Cotabato was shot in front of his family

A member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was killed by members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighers (BIFF) in front of his family in Pigcawayan, Cotabato on Wednesday.

According to a report on Unang Balita on Thursday by Joseph Morong, the wife of the CAFGU man said the BIFF first shot him on the knee when the group arrived in Barangay Malagakit.

The family tried to escape but the BIFF members caught up with them.

The BIFF members, who are known to the victim, hesitated to kill the CAFGU man, but decided to go ahead with the killing.

The body of the victim has yet to be recovered since the BIFF planted a bomb on it.

The wife said the BIFF members said her husband is hard-headed. They told him long before not to train with the CAFGU but he continued with it.

The wife and children were among the 42 residents rescued by government troops on Wednesday night.

They were loaded on a dump truck and were brought to Pigcawayan National High School.
