Two children rescued from collapsed building in earthquake-struck Leyte
Two children trapped inside a collapsed building in Kananga, Leyte have been rescued after a magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit the province on Thursday.
A earthquake resulted in the collapse of the two-storey Queda commercial building.
GMA News' stringer Ronny Roa reported on State of the Nation that the victims, who are believed to be siblings, were immediately brought to a nearby hospital.
They were not identified.
Roa added that rescue operations are ongoing for the remaining persons trapped inside the establishment.
The quake struck 8 kilometers southwest of the town of Jaro at a depth of 2 kilometers beneath the island.
It was felt at Intensity V in Tacloban City and Palo, Leyte, and even as far as Cebu City. —Anna Felicia Bajo/NB, GMA News
