Four in viral bullying video face raps months after incident
Seven months after repeatedly punching a 16-year-old child with special needs, four individuals are facing charges after the video of the bearing went viral and reached the family of their victim.
"Kung hindi pa nga nakita ng barangay kapitan hindi pa po namin alaw eh... Nagkamali po sila ng pasa-pasa ng video na 'yun. Sila rin po nagkalat ng video nila," said the victim's aunt, Adelfa Carpio-Magno.
The victim, who went to Pandan, Antique to watch the basketball tournament on occasion of the town fiesta, reportedly didn't tell his parents of the physical abuse for fear that he would again be beaten up.
Pandan Mayor Jonathan Tan said he has directed the local Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to make that the attackers were made accountable.
Along with several concerned netizens who watched the video, the victim's family has decided to file charges before the prosecutor's office.
"Hindi po kami makikipag-areglo. Babayaran muna nila 'yung ginawa nila," Magno said. —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
