3 hurt, 1 seriously as tricycle plows through group of students
VIRAC, Catanduanes— Three people were hurt, one seriously, as a speeding tricycle plowed through a group of students walking on the roadside in Virac town on Friday evening.
One Jethro Romero, who witnessed the incident, said that the tricycle was speeding on a dark and wet road in Barangay Constantino when it rammed through a group of six students heading to the terminal to get a ride home to neighboring Bato town.
Student Hannah Rodulfo, 17, was hit hardest by the tricycle and was dragged 10 meters from the point of impact. Two others sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies.
A passenger of the tricycle said that driver Joseph Bautista, 41, was driving wildly fast before plowing from behind the group of students walking on the roadside.
Hannah Rodulfo broke a leg, but she is now in stable condition, Doctor Jefferson Espinola said, adding that the two others are recuperating from their minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver is in police custody while the incident is being investigated. —LBG, GMA News
