Magnitude-4.7 quake rocks Samar, Tacloban

A predawn quake measuring magnitude 4.7 rocked Tacloban City before dawn Monday, but state seismologists said there was no casualty or damage to property. Radio dzBB reported Monday that the Philippine Institute of Volcanology (Phivolcs) said the quake was tectonic in origin and measured magnitude 4.7. Phivolcs said the quake was felt at Intensity III in Tacloban City. It said no aftershock was expected. The United States Geological Service (USGS) said Monday the quake was recorded at about 2:30 a.m. It traced the epicenter 105 km east of Calbayog town in Samar province, or 120 km north-northeast of Tacloban City in Leyte. The quake's epicenter was also 130 km north of Guiuan town in Samar, or 565 km east-southeast of Manila. - GMANews.TV
