The water in a Marilao Water District (Marwadis) tank in Bulacan has been found to be contaminated with the bacteria E.coli.

According to a report by JP Soriano on 24 Oras, the Municipal Health Office has ordered the closure of the water tank's motor.

"Kinakailangan po natin na 'yan eh pansamantala na isarado at magkaroon ulit ng panibagong test sa kanilang tubig. Sa ngayon po ang ginagawa po ng Marwadis ay nagkaroon po sila ng mga distribution ng pipeline saka scoring and flushing," said sanitation inspector Evelyn San Miguel.

Earlier this month, 80 residents of Deca Homes subdivision became ill after drinking water from the tank.

A team leader of Marwadis' maintenance department admitted that they obtained water from the river.

Meanwhile, the leader of the subdivision's residents said they are planning to file a complaint against Marwadis.

"Sana ayusin nila 'yung problema kasi di matatapos 'yan kung tataguan nila," said Rolly Manigat.

The report said the rural health unit is continuously monitoring the state of residents in Deca Homes even though they have all recovered.

The general manager of Marwadis, however, is not yet facing the residents to discuss the matter, the report added. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
