NPA launches more attacks in Quezon; 4 soldiers hurt
Four members of the Army's engineering brigade were hurt in an ambush by suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) in General Luna, Quezon on Tuesday morning.
Police said the soldiers were on board a truck when they hit a landmine in Barangay Bagong at around 9 a.m.
The landmine blast was followed by a volley of gunfire from rebels.
The wounded soldiers have been brought to the Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital in Cabanatuan City.
Colonel Elias Escarcha, commander of the 201st Infantry Brigade, said NPA rebels also attacked a military detachment in Barangay Anop in Cabanatuan City, also at around 9 a.m.
Escarcha said he has yet to determine if there were soldiers injured in the attack.
On Monday night, NPA members raided a ranch in San Francisco town and abducted six of its workers, including two off-duty militiamen.
The workers were released on the same night.
The NPA intensified its attacks after President Rodrigo Duterte terminated the peace talks and declared the communist group as a terrorist organization. —report from Peewee Bacuño/ALG, GMA News
