Hopes remain high for relatives of missing men in Bohol landslide

Relatives of one of two men buried alive in Anda town, Bohol province remains hopeful a day after search and rescue operations were conducted.

KC Peñaranda-Abac, the wife of Ariel Abac, said she tried to call her husband through his cellphone and it still rings.

Abac and Valeriano Galeya were buried alive after a landslide occurred in Barangay Cadabong, Anda town on Monday afternoon.

Based on initial investigation, Abac and Galeya were working at the limestone quarry site when the landslide occurred.

Totsie Escobia, Bohol provincial information officer, said the search and rescue operations will continue.

The quarry site was also checked by Mines and Geosciences Bureau personnel from Cebu, who disallowed the use of heavy equipment because of the high risk that another landslide may occur. So the rescue personnel are digging up soil and rocks manually. — BAP, GMA News
