13 suspects killed, 58 arrested in overnight drug ops in Bulacan

Thirteen drug suspects were killed while 58 were arrested in an overnight anti-narcotics operations in Bulacan province, provincial police director Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat said Friday.

The partial results of the Bulacan Provincial Police Office province-wide simultaneous operations on illegal drugs showed that 12 out of 49 operations resulted in armed encounters.

Police said that these encounters occurred in the towns of Bocaue, Pandi, Sta. Maria, Plaridel, Pulilan, Balliwag, San Rafael and in the cities of Malolos and San Jose Del Monte.

Among the drug personalities arrested was actor Julio Diaz (real name: Mariano de Leon), who is considered as a high-value target.

Authorities seized 216 sachets of suspected shabu and one brick and 26 sachets of marijuana with an estimated value of P488,439 from the operations.
Also seized from the suspects were 15 various firearms.

Since last year, a number of drug suspects have already been killed in overnight drug operations in Bulacan province.

In August last year, 32 suspects were killed within 24 hours while last month, 13 drug suspects were killed while more than 100 were arrested in dozens of anti-illegal drug operations. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/KBK, GMA News
