Two dead in Cebu fire
Two people died when fire broke out in a residential area in Barangay Ermita in Cebu City on Monday morning, according to a report on News To Go.
There were others reported missing but authorities did not identify them.
YouScooper Philip Alvarez was able to take a video of the fire which affected a number of houses.
The fire was first reported to the Bureau of Fire Protection before 6 a.m.
The BFP raised the alarm to Task Force Bravo, meaning the district fire marshall and the city fire marshall have joined forces to put out the fire.
Firemen had difficulty reaching the area due to the narrow streets.
In an interview on Balitanghali, Chief Inspector Noel Nelson Ababon of the Cebu City Fire Department said the fatalities were two children, one aged two, and the other aged nine.
Ababon said the alleged cause of the fire was an kerosene-type stove that suddenly caught fire.
He added that the Cebu City disaster management officer is already at the site attending to those affected by the fire.
Ababon said the overhauling process is ongoing as of midday. —KG, GMA News
