Lawyer killed, wife critically wounded in Cebu City gun attack
A lawyer was killed and his wife critically wounded in an attack inside their house in Cebu City on Monday evening, a television report said Wednesday.
GMA News' Victoria Tulad on "Unang Balita" said that lawyer Salvador Solima and his wife were shot while having dinner.
Solima died while being rushed to the Chong Hua Hospital and his wife, the report said, remains in critical condition due to gunshot wound in the head.
According to the report, the victims' housekeeper told authorities that two unidentified men who introduced themselves as Solima's clients were allowed inside their home before the attack.
Police arrested Ricarte Del Coro, the alleged gunman, immediately after the attack but in a buy-bust operation. Investigators and a witness pointed to Del Coro as the main suspect.
Authorities also apprehended brothers Alvin and Alberto Baluyos Jr. who allegedly served as lookouts during the attack on the victims. All three suspects denied involvement in the incident.
One of the angles police are looking at as possible motive for the crime is land dispute.
"Possible na it has something to do sa mga transactions niya sa lupa. It has something to do with lupa. Titingnan pa natin," Cebu City Police Director and Police Senior Superintendent Royina Garma said. —Rie Takumi/LBG/KG, GMA News
