Town councilor shot dead, 3 others hurt in Lanao del Sur

A municipal councilor was shot dead, while three others were wounded in an attack in Lanao del Sur on Saturday.

The Balabagan Municipal Police identified the slain local official as Nassif Palawan Bansil, 31, municipal councilor of Kapatagan, Lanao del Sur.

Critically wounded were Alvin Abdullah Sampiano, 35, former barangay captain of Poblacion, Balabagan; and two others who were not immediately identified.

Police suspected "rido" or family feud to be the motive behind the attack.

Based on the initial investigation by the Balabagan MPS, the four victims were inside the compound of former Balabagan Municipal Mayor Hadji Amer Sampiano when five  persons on board a blue Toyota Tamarraw FX arrived, entered the house, and fired at the victims.

The unidentified attackers immediately fled after the incident.
