Students wade in dirty floodwater to get to classrooms in Bulacan school

Children at an elementary school in Barangay Santisima Trinidad in Malolos, Bulacan waded through murky floodwaters to get to their classrooms on Monday, as seen in a report on Balitanghali by GMA News stringer Rommel Ramos.

The students already at school school prior to the announcement of class cancellations had to leave their classrooms by walking on tables and chairs.

Teachers and students were also seen trying to bail flood water out of the rooms using buckets and dust pans.

According to the school, the classrooms used by kinder-level students and pupils from Grade One to Four, had been affected by floods for the past several years  in spite of the Department of Education's plan to construct a new building.

According to a report on 24 Oras by Oscar Oida later in the evening, parts of Hagonoy were also flooded due to the heavy rain and the high tide.

Some residents of Barangay Wawa II, who were wading in waist-deep water, said they have gotten used to the flood that ceased to subside in the past few days.

Meanwhile, in Marilao, a portion of the MacArthur Highway had not been passable to small vehicles.

GMA News' JP Soriano also tweeted a video showing a flooded portion of the MacArthur Highway in Meycauayan.

Nevertheless, the Hagonoy National Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Council floods in most  areas in Hagonoy have subsided by Tuesday evening.
