8 hurt, 2,600 houses razed in fire in Jolo, Sulu


Eight people were injured and 2,600 houses were razed in a fire that razed two barangays in Jolo, Sulu on Tuesday.

It took nine hours for firemen to put out the fire which started past 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report on News To Go on Wednesday.

Firetrucks could not immediately enter the narrow streets to put out the fire.

There were also not enough firemen.

An estimated 26,000 residents lost homes in the fire.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Affected residents are staying at an evacuation center as of posting time.
