Woman in critical condition after husband douses her with gasoline, sets her on fire
A Pampanga woman is in critical condition after being doused with gasoline and set on fire by her husband, a report on Balitanghali said Sunday.
The report by Jun Veneracion identified the woman as Joana. Her husband, Roman Timbol Lacsana, is at large and being sought by authorities.
"Sinindihan po siya ng lighter," said SPO2 Marian Trinidad of the Angeles City Police of the victim.
"Habang nasusunog pa 'yug biktima, nagawa pa po siyang pagsuntuk-suntukin sa mukha, pagsipa-sipain," she added.
Joana's young daughter was also injured in the attack as she went to her mother's rescue.
"Ang ginawa daw ng anak niya, binuhusan daw siya ng tubig, tapos 'yung mga basang damit, niyakap sa nanay niya," said the victim's sister Janet Catacutan, who added that her niece sustained injuries to her arm as a result.
Catacutan said that Joana and her husband have been separated for eight months, and that Joana had been living with her.
Last Monday, Joana went back to her house to visit her children, which was when the incident happened.
According to the police, this was not the first time that Lacsana hurt his wife.
"Dahil po nung nakaraang taon, may insidente ng pananaga, kaya lang po hindi sila nagreklamo dahil nga po binigyan pa po niya ng isa pag pagkakataon," said Trinidad.
Lacsana will be charged with frustrated murder in relation to violence against women and their children. — BM, GMA News
