Chiz files COC for Sorsogon governor

Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero on Friday filed his Certificate of Candidacy for governor of Sorsogon province in the 2019 elections.

Accompanied by wife Heart Evangelista, Escudero filed his COC at the Commission on Elections' Sorsogon Provincial Office located at the Capitol compound in Sorsogon City.

Escudero's running-mate, incumbent Mayor Manuel "Wowo" Fortes of Barcelona, Sorsogon, was also present to file his own COC.

Escudero's term as senator expires in 2019. Fortes is likewise on his last term as mayor.

Escudero and Fortes, who are both lawyers, are running under the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) party.

Escudero's office said he will remain an independent but was nominated by NPC as its candidate in the governor of Sorsogon. —KBK, GMA News
