55-year-old man arrested in Bulacan for child molestation

A 55-year-old man was arrested after molesting an eight-year old girl in Bocaue, Bulacan.

According to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita on Wednesday by Cecille Villarosa, the suspect was a friend of the father of the victim who let him stay in their house.

The incident was reported to authorities when a neighbor caught the suspect doing the molestation.

"Noong ni-report po kasi 'yun nakita po ng kapitbahay na hinawakan, pero sa pag-iimbestiga po nalaman po na tuwing wala ang mga magulang ng bata madalas pong ginagawa ng nasabing suspek," Police Officer 1 Brilliant Reyes of the Women’s Desk of Bocaue Police said.

The suspect was immediately arrested.

According to police, this was the second time the suspect did the act.

The suspect said he was drunk when it happened.

Police endorsed the victim to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for counseling.

Meanwhile, Reyes warned parents, “Kung maaari po sana 'yung nga anak natin, huwag natin ipagkatiwala sa ibang tao. Kung maaari po sana, tayo mismo ang mag-gabay sa kanila para maiwasan ang ganitong pangyayari." —Joviland Rita/GMA News
