At least 11 drug suspects were killed all in a day's  anti-drug operations in the province of Laguna as of noontime Friday.

In a report by John Consulta aired over “Balitanghali”, the 11 fatalities resulted from anti-drug operations conducted in San Pablo City, Calamba, Los Baños, Biñan, Pila and Nagcarlan, Laguna in the last 24 hours.

Police Chief Supt. Eleazar Matta of the Laguna police said the public should expect intensified anti-drug operations in the coming days.

“Inaasahan natin ang pagbaba ng crime incidence sa laguna dahil sa mga anti-drug operations na ito,” Matta said.

Among those 11 who were killed were Leonardo Reyes Perez of San Pablo City and Resel Ortega of Calamba.

San Pablo Police Chief and Police Supt. Eliseo Bernales said that Perez, who had been convicted over drug-related case, was gunned down shooting it out with police operatives.

Ortega, on the other hand, supposedly supplied drugs to tricycle and jeepney drivers.

Aside from the 11 fatalities, 79 drug suspects have arrested in the operations in Laguna in the last 24 hours. —Llanesca T. Panti/LBG, GMA News
