Antipolo buy-bust operation nets 7 suspects, including half sister of actress Patricia Javier

Antipolo City police on Tuesday night arrested seven suspected drug personalities, including the half sister of actress Patricia Javier.

According to GMA News' Jun Veneracion's report on 24 Oras, among those arrested were the prime targets — Joemar Maderazo alias "Bossing," who identified himself as an officer of the Bureau of Fire Protection, and his partner, Margie Canlapan, the actress' half sister.

They were nabbed by authorities in a subdivision in Barangay Mayamot at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday for selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P500, a police report said.

"Wala pong kinalaman ang pamilya ko sa mga nagawa ko," Canlapan said in the television report.

"At least si Patricia hindi naman siya involved sa mga ganyan... pero si Margie talagang involved sa drugs 'yan," the same report quoted Superintendent Villaflor Bannawagan, chief of Antipolo City Police, as saying.

The television report said Patricia Javier confirmed that Canlapan is her half sister, although they don't live in the same house. The actress said she is saddened with the arrest of her sister but added that the suspect should learn from this experience.

Caught in the act

The suspects were arrested in Canlapan's apartment after being caught in the act of doing a drug session.

Maderazo even allegedly bragged about his position in the Bureau of Fire Protection and his supposed connection to an official of another government agency.

"Ang surprising pinagmalaki pa niya, pinagmamalaki pa niya ang asawa niya ay colonel... sa Bureau of Jail Management and Penology," Bannawagan added.

The police report, however, said that Maderazo and Canlapan were in a relationship and that the two are known bigtime drug distributors in Antipolo.

Canlapan has another brother who is involved in illegal trade, it added.

Recovered from the suspects were eleven sachets of suspected shabu, a weighing scale, and other drug paraphernalia.

The vehicle being used by Canlapan in peddling illegal drugs was also recovered by police.

The suspects will face charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — Dona Magsino/RSJ/FRJ, GMA News
