Faeldon's son tests negative for drugs

Naga City Police said on Saturday that Nicanor Faeldon Jr., son of Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon, tested negative for drugs, according to a report on Super Radyo dzBB by Jonathan Andal.

The younger Faeldon was arrested on Friday at a suspected drug den in Barangay Mabolo, Naga City.

Police said Faeldon's three companions at the time of the arrest were the ones who tested positive for drugs.

They were identified as Russel Lanuzo, Allan Valdez, and Manuel Nebres.

Police, armed with a search warrant, conducted a raid on the suspected drug den at 5 a.m. on Friday.

Recovered from the house were seven sachets of suspected shabu.

BuCor chief Faeldon said he will resign from his post and kill his son, Nicanor Jr., if the latter will be proven guilty of being involved in the illegal drug trade.

"In any event, if the police investigation will show that my son, Nicanor Jr., is indeed a drug pusher and therefore a menace to society, then there will be no need to prosecute or to jail him. I will personally obliterate him from the face of the earth," he said.

Faeldon also offered to take a leave of absence while investigation is ongoing.

Malacañang assured on Friday that the investigation will be impartial.

"We assure that there will be no whitewash on the ongoing investigation in adherence with the administration's firm resolve to curb illegal drugs in the country," presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement.

The Palace also commended Faeldon "for taking a principled stand of distancing himself from the investigation, for letting police authorities do the job of probing said incident, and for offering to resign once the allegation is proven true."

Nicanor Jr. was purportedly staying at his girlfriend's house that was raided by Naga City police. He said that it was the father of his girlfriend who was the subject of the drug raid.

He will face charges for being an employee or visitor of a drug den, as provided for in the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The offense is punishable by 12 to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of between P100,000 and P500,000. —KG, GMA News
