Holidaymakers braved foggy roads on their way to Sagada, Mountain Province the weekend before the New Year celebrations.

In Katrina Son's report on GMA's 24 Oras Weekend on Sunday, some motorists had to park on the side of the road in Benguet due to the thick fog and drizzle.

Despite the challenging journey and occasional stops, the tourists were able to savor the freezing weather in the area.

Travel time from Baguio City to Sagada was seven hours, according to the report.

The Busa Sabangan section of the Baguio-Bontoc road, however, was temporarily closed due to slippery roads. An alternate route was taken by motorists.

Around 10,000 tourists have flocked to Sagada since December 20.

"We implemented the park and walk policy where all cars coming inside Sagada are required to park their vehicles and then walk. If they don't want to walk, they will hire a local vehicle," said Sagada Senior Tourism Officer Maria Teresa Abad.

The local government also implements a strict anti-littering ordinance. Tour guides and tourists were seen bringing along with them garbage bags where they could put their trash while sight-seeing. — Dona Magsino/BM, GMA News
