More than 2,000 families were evacuated in a barangay in Davao City after a thunderstorm on Wednesday caused neck-deep flood, according to Darlene Cay's report on Balitanghali on Friday.
Most of the evacuees sought shelter at Barangay Bunawan's gymnasium, although many of them had gone home already after the floodwaters subsided.
Others chose to temporarily stay on the side of the flooded highway, unmindful of the threat of leptospirosis.
At present, some 400 individuals who fear that the Davao River may overflow are staying at the gym of a school where a mobile kitchen has been set up to feed them. —KBK, GMA News
