A piglet has left villagers baffled after it was born with two heads, two snouts and three eyes.

The little one was the last in a litter of eight that was delivered on a farm in the remote village of Calian in Sultan Kudarat, the Philippines, on January 31.

Bizarrely, both of her snouts function perfectly and both of them can suckle on her mother's nipples simultaneously.

Owner Adelita Dalipe has now named the 'lucky' piglet "Mara Clara"’ and is keeping her in a separate enclosure to tend to her round-the-clock.

Adelita said: ''When she came out, I was surprised. I was wondering why she came out like that.’’

"'I think that the piglet is lucky. This is so rare. It's amazing that she survived and that she is healthy. She has a lot of energy just like her brothers and sisters. I will take care of her and give her special treatment. Many people thought that she would not survive. But she is strong and has proved them wrong.''

According local veterinarian Allan Alimajen Jr, the piglet has Polycephaly, a condition that is usually contracted by livestock animals. He said: ''Animals with this condition usually do not last long and may die after a few weeks. It remains to be seen whether this piglet will survive.'
