P1-M reward offered for info on Cebu teen's killers
The Lapu-Lapu city government in Cebu is offering P1 million for any information that would lead to the suspects behind the killing and mutilation of 16-year-old Christine Silawan.
Mayor Paz Radaza announced the reward offer during a press conference in the city on Wednesday, two days after Silawan's body was found.
“The one who solves the case ASAP will be given the reward. I have also instructed the police to resolve this at soonest possible time,” Radaza said.
“Grabe ang nangyari sa bata. I want to prove that here in our place, we resolve cases like this quickly and the government is committed to serve justice,” she added.
In addition, Radaza said the city government will make sure that there will be increased police and tanod visibility in schools and in areas where students pass by on their way home.
The victim, who was found naked from the waist down and is believed raped, was last seen alive on Sunday at a church as a collector of offering during the 6 a.m. Mass.
The Department of Education's Division Office of Lapu-Lapu City has already issued a memorandum reminding all public and private elementary and secondary schools to strengthen their existing rules and policies about school safety in the aftermath of the gruesome murder.
