Grass fires occur in Region 3 amid dry season —BFP
Firefighters in Central Luzon have observed the occurrence of grass fires in some of its provinces amid the onset of the dry season, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) on Sunday.
"Ang pinakamarami po naming grass fires na nararanasan sa Region 3, bandang Pampanga po," BFP Central Luzon Director Fire Senior Superintendent Samuel Tadeo said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday.
He said a minimum of two to three grass fire incidents per day were being responded to in the town of Bacolor, Pampanga.
Grass fires in the said area usually happen in the fields along the expressways, he added.
The local government and the residents already launched a program to cut the untended grasses in order to prevent fire incidents.
PAGASA on Friday officially announced the start of the dry season. —Dona Magsino/KG, GMA News
