7 blocks of suspected cocaine found off Catanduanes
Seven blocks of suspected cocaine were found by fishermen off Bagamanoc, Catanduanes, according to a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday.
The fishermen said the blocks were wrapped in a fishnet, with each block having a dollar sign marking on the packaging.
The suspected cocaine were turned over to the local Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) unit.
Since February 10, over 100 kilograms of cocaine have been recovered from the country's eastern shores —from the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur in Luzon, to the Dinagat group of islands in Caraga region, Davao Oriental, Surigao Del Norte, and Surigao Del Sur in Mindanao.
The Philippine National Police said the cocaine bricks could have been destined for Australia.
Police estimate pegs the value of the recently recovered cocaine at P800 million. —KBK, GMA News
