The province of Albay has been placed under a state of calamity due to El Niño, according to a report on GMA News TV's News To Go on Friday.
The Provincial Agriculture Office reported that the damage to the agriculture in the region, particularly in corn and rice crops, already reached P128 million.
Aside from the damaged crop fields, irrigation channels also dried up because of intense heat.
The local government gave vegetable seeds that could be easily grown to affected farmers in order to boost their livelihood. — Jamil Santos/RSJ, GMA News
