Farmer dies after being attacked by his own pig in Romblon

ODIONGAN, Romblon - A farmer was attacked and killed by his own pig in a town in Romblon on Monday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Tanny Baladjay, 58, a resident of Barangay Progreso Weste in Odiongan town.

Tanny's nephew Jondel Baladjay told GMA News his uncle was fetching water when the male pig called by locals as 'turo' came near Tanny and attacked him.

The victim tried to escape but he fell causing the pig to bite his legs and buttocks.

"Narinig ko sila na tinatawag nila ang pangalan ko, sabi 'Si Tatay!' Tumayo ako sa kinatatayuan ko. Nakita ko si Tatay na nakaupo sa may puno ng niyog tapos pagtayo niya madami ng dugo na lumalabas sa paa niya," Jondel told GMA News in an interview.

Tanny was rushed by his neighbors to Isiah Medical Center but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician due to rapid blood loss.

The male pig was killed by a neighbor and was buried after.

Relatives of the victim still do not have a clue why their pig suddenly attacked Tanny even if they already fed it before the accident. —KG, GMA News
