120 flee as earthquake-caused landslide hits Zambales town

At least 120 families have been evacuated due to an earthquake-caused landslide in Mt. Bimmukel in San Marcelino, Zambales, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday.

The NDRRMC made the announcement a day after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake, which epicenter is in Castillejos, Zambales, hit Luzon last Monday afternoon.

On top of the evacuation, the NDRRMC reported that schools and government work in quake affected areas have suspended to give way on the inspection of all structure damages and rescue operations.

Likewise, the NDRRMC reminded the public to be vigilant.

“The public is advised to be aware of the aftershocks, stay calm, familiarize the evacuation plan in your area and be posted on the latest and verified updates about earthquake information,” the NDRRMC said. —Llanesca T. Panti/NB, GMA News
