Sweet Halili, daughter of slain Tanauan, Batangas mayor, leads mayoralty race


The daughter of slain Tanauan City, Batangas mayor Antonio Halili is leading the mayoralty race in the city in the May 2019 polls, according to a report by GMA News' Saleema Refran on Tuesday morning.

As of 12:26 p.m. on Tuesday, Sweet Halili has 25,329 votes, according to the partial and unofficial results on the Comelec Transparency Server.

Her opponent with the next highest number of votes is Sonia Aquino who has 16,679 votes.

For the vice mayoralty post, Jun-jun Trinidad has 30,683 votes, followed by Marissa Tabing with 19,494 votes as of 12:26 p.m. Tuesday.

These results are based on 62.41% of election returns processed.

There was a problem with 15 SD cards which resulted in the delay of transmission of election results.

Antonio Halili was shot dead in July last year while attending a flag ceremony at the city hall. —KG, GMA News
