Four minors were wounded when their vehicle was caught in a firefight between the camps of two political rivals in Ganassi, Lanao del Sur.

According to a report by Sandra Aguinaldo on GMA's 24 Oras on Tuesday, the van carrying the four minors and their relatives drove through an area where supporters of incumbent Ganassi Mayor Al-Rashid Baloto Macapodi and rival candidate Amano Diangka Balindong were supposedly exchanging fire on election day.

"Sige kami senyas na hindi kami kalaban. Mga bata 'yung mga kasama namin. Hinabol kami 'nung dalawang lalaki. Sige sila, baril nang baril sa amin," said Sultan Binlihad Guro, mother of three of the victims.

"Sana po mabigyan ng katarungan 'yung mga anak ko," she added.

The three siblings—aged nine, 12, and 14—and their 17-year-old cousin are recovering in hospital.

"Sa ngayon po, lahat po sila ay nasa mabuting kalagayan," said a doctor.

Four others from both camps were also injured.

Meanwhile, one of the three individuals arrested on suspicion of setting off an improvised explosive device in a separate incident in Marantao on Monday was released after the investigation showed that he was innocent.

The two suspects remain in custody. — Dona Magsino/BM, GMA News
