Legarda wins as Antique representative
Senator Loren Legarda was proclaimed as the new representative of Antique after a landslide victory over her opponent, former governor Exequiel Javier.
Legarda garnered 199,187 votes as against Javier's 69,716 votes.
Javier ran for the lone House seat of the province to replace his son, incumbent Antique Representative Paolo Javier, who in turn joined the gubernatorial race. The younger Javier however lost to Rhodora Cadiao.
Legarda thanked the people of Antique for voting for her.
"This victory is not for me alone, but for Antique and the Antiqueños. Now that the election is over, we should start working together. I extend my hand to every Antiqueño—let us unite to defeat the real enemy, which is poverty,” she said in a statement.
Legarda is on her third term as senator and is thus ineligible for reelection.
The congresswoman-elect said she will ensure that her province mates will continue to feel the improvement in their lives. —KG, GMA News
