The Philippine National Police has vowed to deliver justice to the family of slain ex-Medellin town mayor in Cebu province Ricardo “Ricky” Ramirez, who was shot to death inside the hospital last Tuesday.

Banac was quoted in the report as saying that Police Regional Office Region 7 (PRO7) is investigating the incident.
Likewise, Banac assured the public that the peace and order situation in the province is still under police control despite the incident, adding that the Cebu police remains on alert to avoid a similar attack to happen again.
Ramirez was under hospital arrest during last Tuesday's attack. He was a detainee at the Medellin District Jail.
Earlier, PRO7's information office said the victim was gunned down at Bogo-Medellin Corporation Medical Center in Barangay Luy-a at 11:50 p.m.
Around 15 unidentified armed men wearing bonnets, on board three SUV and one white Sedan, arrived at the hospital, disarmed the security guards and asked a nurse to lead them to Ramirez's room.
After destroying the doorknob, the suspects also disarmed the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel guarding Ramirez' room and asked him to get down to the ground.
The ex-mayor was shot in the comfort room, while the more than 10 remaining suspects surrounded the hospital and served as lookout, Pelayo further said.
Ramirez sustained gunshot wounds in the body based on the SOCO report. The suspects used a 9-mm firearm and other high-powered guns.
Pelayo said there are no CCTV cameras at the hospital. Police investigation on the case is ongoing.
