Magnitude 5.9 quake jolts Lila, Bohol

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Bohol province on Tuesday early dawn, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said in bulletin.

The quake occurred at 12:59 a.m, with the epicenter traced to 41 kilometers southeast of Lila, Bohol and had a depth of 551 kilometers.

PHIVOLCS said the quake was tectonic in origin.

Intensity 1 was felt in Borongan City in Eastern Samar.

Aftershocks are expected, the PHIVOLCS said.

There was no report of damages from the quake. —LDF, GMA News
