Duterte leads inauguration of rehabilitated Ormoc airport
President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday led the inauguration of the rehabilitated Ormoc City airport.
During the ceremony, the president unveiled the Ormoc City Airport marker.
Also present during the occasion were Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, Leyte Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez, and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Capt. Jim Sydiongco.
The rehabilitation project included the renovation of the passenger terminal building, construction of the CAAP administration building and other facilities, as well as the widening of the runway.
The airport underwent rehabilitation after having been damaged by Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013 and by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake in 2017. — DVM, GMA News
