A passenger died after a boat capsized off Limasawa Island in Southern Leyte on Monday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Tuesday.
Fifteen persons, including the crew and operator of the Ruel motorboat, were rescued and brought to the Rural Health Unit in Limasawa.
However, victim Adelaida Palero was declared dead on arrival.
The incident could be attributed to the effects of the southwest monsoon, according to the NDRRMC, saying it is coordinating with the Philippine Coast Guard if it was indeed weather-related.
The incident is under investigation by authorities. —Anna Felicia Bajo/VDS, GMA News
