6-year-old child killed in fire in General Santos City

A six-year-old girl died in a fire that engulfed 100 houses in General Santos City on Tuesday, according to a report by Ian Cruz on GMA News' Unang Balita on Wednesday.

The child was said to be sleeping at the time fire broke out.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire quickly spread since the houses were made of light materials.

The BFP said they were able to put out the fire quickly since they were able to access the area right away.

Damage was pegged at P600,000.

Affected residents who lost their homes sought shelter at the barangay hall after the fire. —KG, GMA News
