Man dies of heart attack after watching Pacquiao knock down Thurman in Round 1

A man in Rodriguez, Rizal reportedly died of a heart attack while watching the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman Sunday morning.

The 50-year-old victim, who watched the fight live at a covered court in Barangay San Jose, reportedly had the attack during the first round when Pacquiao floored Thurman in a shocking knockdown.

According to Eddie Magalso, the officer-in-charge who was also at the public viewing in Phase 1A, the crowd erupted into cheers but he saw the victim sit down.

The victim, who had a wife and kids, reportedly did not make it to the hospital.

The family had the funeral in his home in Kasiglahan Village. There were no details yet on his burial.

Pacquiao, who is now the WBA (Super) welterweight titleholder, won the fight in Las Vegas after his American opponent kept his footing for 12 rounds. — Margaret Claire Layug/MDM, GMA News
