Victim's decomposing corpse found dumped inside CDO septic tank

Police investigators found the battered and decomposing corpse of a Cagayan de Oro City local, who had been missing since Monday, inside a septic tank in the city's Barangay Puntod, GMA News' Mark Salazar reported Sunday on 24 Oras Weekend.

Victim Rachel Manahan was last seen on community security cameras walking home when she was assaulted and battered by a suspect later identified as Daniel Bagubaldo.

"Papauwi na ang biktima, sinundan siya nung suspek," explained Police Station 5 commander Police Captian Jac Llanita. "Doon na ginulpi siya, rinap siya ng white na wrapper, tapos kinarga ng bisikleta."

Police investigators found Manahan's body at the septic tank, as this was not far from where she was first assaulted.

It turned out that the suspect Bagubaldo lived nearby as well, and when he attempted to flee, locals were able to overpower and accost him.

Bagubaldo was in police custody and would be charged with murder. — DVM, GMA News
