A truck driver, whose vehicle crashed into and toppled over two jeeps in Antipolo City killing six victims, was able to evade arrest by quickly leaving the crash scene, Katrina Son reported Sunday on GMA News TV program Balitanghali Weekend.

Dashcam video taken Saturday afternoon captured the moment when the truck, which came roaring down the Barangay Mambugan section of the Sumulong Highway, tipped over and crashed into two jeepneys.

Four other victims were seriously injured in the crash.

Meanwhile, among those killed in the collision was the truck driver's assistant, John Paul Mallari.

According to Mallari's mother, Marina Balitostos, her son had landed the assistant's job a month earlier.

Mahirap eh, mahirap tanggapin," admitted Balitostos.

She thus called on the truck driver to turn himself in. "Siya, buhay siya, nakaligtas siya. Pero yung anak ko iniwanan nya," said the grieving Balitostos.

Nagtatago sya, eh." — DVM, GMA News
