Masked suspects gun down San Pablo City mayor's cousin

Four masked suspects gunned down the San Pablo City, Laguna mayor's cousin at his doorstep and in full view of several bystanders, GMA News' Ian Cruz reported Sunday on 24 Oras Weekend.

Mayor Amben Amante's cousin, 45-year-old Gener Amante Jr., was sitting outside his home in Barangay Santa Maria Magdalena in San Pablo City when an unmarked black SUV drove up and four gunmen jumped out, guns firing.

Gener, though immediately wounded by the shooters, attempted to take refuge inside his home.

But he only managed a few steps before his assailants caught up with him, and kept pumping him full of bullets.

After one of the shooters gave the now prostrate Gener a coup de grâce, the four suspects, as quickly as they arrived, got back in their SUV and roared off.

Gener was rushed to hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Investigators are now looking into the motive of the murder and the identities of the four gunmen. — DVM, GMA News
