A measure was filed at the House of Representatives on Monday seeking to suspend the collection of or reduce the rates of toll fees in the South Luzon Expressway amid the heavy traffic along the highway due to ongoing construction activities.

In House Resolution 428, Laguna 3rd District Representative Sol Aragones wants SLEX operators to temporarily suspend the payment of or lower the rates of toll fees for six months while the Skyway extension is being constructed.

According to Aragones, the closure of some lanes in the SLEX has caused inconvenience among motorists and commuters, and they should be provided some relief for it.

Aragones said that while she was proposing a six-month suspension of the toll fee collection, it could be shortened depending on the situation.

In case the decision would be to lower the toll fee rates, she would let the motorists and the Toll Regulatory Board to determine the rates.

—NB, GMA News
