Soldier loses leg in Maguindanao IED blast

A 57th Infantry Battalion soldier lost his right leg after he was caught in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion during operations in Maguindanao.

Corporal Rex Sadava was wounded on Friday in Barangay Dasawao, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, according to Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) spokesman Major Arvin Encinas.

According to Encinas, the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters had planted the IED.

Soldiers engaged the BIFF in a firefight on Monday, he added.
