Town police chief, barangay tanod killed in Lanao ambush
COTABATO City —The police chief of Binidayan town in Lanao del Sur and a village auxiliary police were killed in an ambush Monday.
A patrolman and a non-uniformed personnel survived the the attack.
Police Colonel Madzgani Mukaram, confirmed the death of his former close-aide, Police Executive Master Sergeant Amen Lucman Macalanggan.
The incident took place in Barangay Banisil of the said town around 6:30 pm.
“It’s really a work related after his series of law enforcement operations during his short stint stay as town officer-in-charge”, Mukaram said.
Mukaram said an exchange of fire ensued after the victims were shot at during the ambush.
Barely a month as town police chief, Macalangan has been active in enforcing the law against illegal logging, carnapping and smuggling.
The slain police officer who is in his middle 40’s is a former Marine officer before he joined the Philippine National Police.
This was the second attempt to his life. The first was in Balabagan town long years ago.
Mukaram said they will immediately investigate the incident and hunt down the perpetrators. —LDF, GMA News
