Power outages have been reported in Cavite and Laguna due to the ash fall following the phreatic eruption of the Taal Volcano earlier on Sunday.

"The ash fall from Taal Volcano has affected our lines in Cavite and Laguna causing brownouts," the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said in an advisory.

"Meralco is working to restore power in these areas as soon as possible. We will maintain electricity in unaffected areas," it added.

Meralco operates and maintains the electric distribution system in the cities and municipalities of Bulacan, Cavite, Metro Manila, and Rizal and certain cities, municipalities, and barangays in the provinces of Batangas, Laguna, Pampanga, and Quezon.

Alert level 4 has already been raised since the phreatic eruption of the Taal Volcano, with ash fall now affecting various areas in Metro Manila. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
